About

Quasimusic.com is a space dedicated to exploring the rich and evolving intersection between mathematics and music. From aperiodic tilings and substitution systems to spectral theory and algorithmic composition, the site highlights how mathematical ideas can shape, challenge, and expand our understanding of musical form.

Our focus is especially on contemporary work—composers, theorists, and technologists who are using modern mathematical structures to create new modes of musical expression. Whether you’re interested in irrational meter, hierarchical rhythms, or the strange beauty of mathematically generated sound, you’ll find examples, explanations, and experiments here.

This site is also a work in progress. Over time, we’ll be adding essays, recordings, code, and commentary, all aimed at making the dialogue between math and music more accessible and more exciting.

Stay tuned—there’s much more to come.
